The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay have decided to continue selling cookies until March 18. The planned end date for sales previously had been March 4.
Gina Dzielak, the communications and marketing manager of the branch, said the extension had nothing to do with sales.
"We had a lot of parents and members ask us to extend our cookie program after the rain and prolonged flu season," Dzielak said.
Sales this year have been great, she added, and of course, the Thin Mint cookie sales top the charts with Samoas not far behind.

Cookies can be found in booths at Christiana Mall and Dunkin' Donuts every weekend and every day at the Girl Scouts office, located in Newark at 225 Old Baltimore Pike, until the program ends.
Dzielak said the leftover cookies are donated to local charities and food banks.
To celebrate the end of the cookie season, the Chesapeake Bay council of troops is organizing a Thin Mint 5K Run April 15 at Dravo Plaza.
